BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The J. William & Harriet Fulbright Center, through international education collaborations, promotes the late Senator J. William Fulbright's vision of world peace and nonviolent means of resolving conflicts. The Center's purpose is to ensure effective engagement in all international collaborations - cultural exchange, study abroad, and life-long learning programs.

Harriet Fulbright

Harriet Fulbright has spent much of her adult life teaching and working in international and arts affairs. She was assistant director of the Congressional Arts Caucus, director of the International Conference of Art Historians and, later, of the Fulbright Association. in 1996, she was unofficial ambassador for the Fulbright Program's 50th aniversary and today travels widely to address Fulbright and other events. She was appointed executive director of President Clinton's Commitee on the Arts and Humanities. She has received seven honorary degrees and honors from many nations.

Tom Gross

Tom Gross is managing partner of Genesis Consulting Group S.A., Geneva, Switzerland, which he founded in 1990. With partners in The Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada and the US, and associates in Latin America, North America, and Europe, Genesis supports top management in designing and implementing organizational change across a wide spectrum of industries and countries. Dr. Gross's clients include Fortune 500 corporations, mid-size companies, and non-governmental organizations devoted to sustainable development and peace-making.


John Laughton

john Laughton

John Laughton is the former Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, the executive director of California State University Summer Arts and founder of Chesapeake SummerArts. He has had Fulbright Fellowships to Brazil and China. As a performing musician and teacher he has performed and taught in Europe, Russia, Latin America and China. He has served on the board of the Fulbright Association and is the US judge for the Taneev International Chamber Music Competition in Russia.


David C. Larsen

David C. Larsen

Vice president of Arcadia University since 1988, Dr. Larsen has held teaching and executive positions in the US and abroad. In the 1970's and early 1980's, he directed the Fulbright Foundation in Greece, then led a division of the Institute for International Education. He is on the board of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and has been an elected leader of organizations such as the Fulbright Association and the Forum on Education Abroad.


Sherry L. Mueller

Sherry L. Mueller

Since 2001, Sherry Mueller has been President of the National Council for International Visitors. She also served at the Institute of International Education as program officer and director of professional exchange programs. Dr. Mueller taught US public diplomacy at the American University. An Experiment in International Living leader to the Soviet Union, she was also English language officer for the Department of State, and board chair of the Coalition for American Leadership Abroad (COLEAD). She is also a board member of World Learning, the Public Diplomacy Council, the Alliance for International Educational & Cultural Exchange and the Social Science Foundation.


Charles F. (Chic) Dambach

Charles F. (Chic) Dambach

Chic Dambach is President of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, a coalition of 50 organizations working together to build sustainable peace and security worldwide. From 1992 through 1999, he was President of the National Peace Corps Association. Chic was part of a team of returned Peace Corps Volunteers who worked informally with the leaders of Eritrea and Ethiopia to help end their border war. He has also worked with rebel leaders and the government of the Congo to help them form a coalition government and end the civil war. Chic was an official U.S. delegate to the United Nations World Food Conference in Rome in 2000, and he has been a featured speaker at US Department of State sponsored National and Regional Town Meetings. He is chairman of the Coalition for American Leadership Abroad, and he was an official in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia from 1967 through 1969.


David H. Lee

David H. Lee

Dr. David H. Lee serves as Vice Chairman of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) which includes nearly 300 WTCs in almost 100 countries along with over 750,000 affiliated companies. David received his PhD at Madrid National University and his post doctorate at the University of California, San Diego. He also studied at the WSU School of Law and in the International Relations department of St Antony's College in the University of Oxford. Academically, David is serving as Foundation Fellow and member of the board of the Regents, Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford. Recently, a Senior Fellow position at Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford has been named in his honor.
